Dance photography in this city usually means one of three things. A studio floor, a black backdrop, or a field at golden hour. Here you get a 200+ backdrop LED wall that becomes whatever the piece calls for. A theater. A cathedral. Fog and hard color. An empty street at night. You are not photographing a dancer in a photo studio, you are photographing a dancer inside the world the choreography belongs to, and you can change that world several times in one visit. Nobody else in Nashville is offering this, because nobody else in Nashville has the wall.

Two dancers, maximum

This is a solo or duet format, and two people in the frame is the ceiling. That is deliberate. Dance needs room for extension, and splitting light across a group means nobody gets the shape they came for. Duets work beautifully here, especially partnering work where the negative space between two bodies is the whole photograph. Built for portfolios and auditions

Audition panels and company directors look at a small number of images for a very short time. What sinks a submission is a photo that is technically fine but says nothing about how you move. We shoot for line first. Extension, epaulement, the shape at the top of a movement, the tension in a pointed foot. Ballet, contemporary, hip hop, jazz, tap, competition solos. Same approach, different vocabulary.

Why sixty seconds is enough

The actual shooting window is sixty seconds, which sounds impossible right up until you have done it. Dancers are the best subjects for it because you already know your material. You are not learning what to do with your body in front of a camera, you are hitting a position you have drilled a thousand times. You hit it, we fire, you reset. Nobody stands around waiting while a light stand gets moved.

What it costs

The session is free. You walk in, we shoot, and you look at the frames before you leave. Basic is $99 for a single photo. Standard is $249 for three photos. Premium is $749 for the entire photoshoot. There is no sitting fee and no package to commit to before you have seen a single photo. You pay for what you actually want to keep.
